ABOUT WARM WORLD SCHOOL

Warm World is a Christian school for three, four, five, and six year old children. The basic philosophy of Warm World has been, since our founding in 1972, to meet children’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs in a setting that is appropriate for the child’s age. Emphasis is placed on children learning through exploration in an environment prepared for them by knowledgeable teachers. Warm World provides opportunities for children to participate in learning activities in science, reading, writing, math, and critical and creative thinking through play, which is the way young children learn best.

In small groups with a teacher ratio of
1:7 for Caterpillars (3 year olds),
1:8 for Butterflies & Monarchs(4 year olds);
1:9 for Kites (Transitional Kindergarten – 5 year olds), and
1:12 for Kindergarten,

Children participate in dramatic play, games, gardening, music, art, and other learning activities. This small group setting provides each child a rich environment in which to explore and learn at their own pace while under the guidance of knowledgeable teachers. This setting also provides opportunities for children to develop social and emotional skills as they interact with one another.

We would like to give your child the opportunity to experience Warm World,

A VERY SPECIAL PLACE FOR CHILDREN.

ABOUT CATERPILLARS

Age: 3 years old (by September 1)

Student/Teacher Ratio: 7:1

It is our hope that we can develop in each child a positive self-image and a love of learning! We want to make learning fun and exciting while developing the child as a whole individual. Caterpillars will be introduced to letters, numbers, colors, and shapes through a variety of experiences. They will gain understanding of sharing, listening, being respectful, and making friends. All of these experiences are enjoyed with a new, interactive weekly theme.

ABOUT BUTTERFLIES

Age: 4 years old (by September 1)

Student/Teacher Ratio: 8:1

We strive to make each child’s social and emotional growth a positive one through various activities and experiences. Children are encouraged to explore who they are and their place in our world. They feel valuable as a member of a small group but also as a part of a larger community. The “Handwriting without Tears” curriculum is used to explore and develop handwriting skills. The weekly letter and theme are presented and explored using all senses. Butterflies attend class on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

ABOUT MONARCHS

Age: 5 years old (by May 31)

Student/Teacher Ratio: 8:1

The Monarchs program is an extension of our Butterflies’ Program. Monarchs attend class on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Monarchs must be 5 by May 31 of the school year.

ABOUT KITES

Age: 5 years old (by September 1)

Student/Teacher Ratio: 9:1

Kites is our name for our transitional kindergarten, which is a class for children who are 5 years old yet need/want the gift of a year before starting Kindergarten. Kites serves as a bridge for children who need some extra time to fully develop their social, emotional, intellectual, or physical selves. We believe that this extra time can be essential to absorb and express ideas, learn more about friendships, assert independence, examine the world around them, develop coping skills, and hone the physical demands placed on today’s school children. By offering a calm, nurturing environment in which these children are challenged at their individual levels, they build the necessary components needed for future success in school. All teachers are certified.

ABOUT KINDERGARTEN

Age: 5 or 6 years old (placement determined by the Director)

Student/Teacher Ratio: 12:1

Our Kindergarten program is designed to provide an enriching curriculum that enables success in a Christian learning environment where each student can grow and develop into a unique individual. Fundamental skills are taught through the success-oriented Saxon Math and Saxon Phonics programs. Students develop a solid foundation for early reading, spelling, and math concepts. The “Handwriting without Tears” program is also taught daily to help students establish proper formation of letters and numbers. Centers, social studies, science, art, and music are integrated through themes, allowing students to foster creativity and knowledge. All teachers are certified. Students must be Kindergarten-ready for placement in this program, as determined by the Director.

ABOUT CHAPEL

Here at Warm World School, we believe in developing the minds of our children to learn about God in a fun, dynamic way through teaching and music. Chapel takes place weekly with a kid friendly devotional tied to the scripture of the month and fun upbeat music. Chapel is highly participatory and fun. Our Chapel Leader rotates through different Servant staff members.

ABOUT MUSIC

Students at Warm World attend music Monday – Thursday with our awesome music teacher.

Music takes place in our dedicated music room.

ABOUT STORYTIME

Warm World students sometimes get the opportunity for our traveling storyteller.

When she is here, she visits each class to share theme-related stories with the students!

ABOUT SCIENCE FRIDAY

Our students love Science Friday! It takes place on Fridays (during the program’s normal music time) in the Music/Science room with our dedicated science teacher.
